Description
A child's stationery box that opens to reveal a miniature pen, letter opener, and sealing wax. Several types of paper and a small stamped envelope (reading "SURPRISE/PARIS") are stored in interior dividers. The word "Papeterie" is embossed in gold on the outside of the box. A label on the underside of the box suggests that it was purchased at Au Nain Bleu, a Parisian toy store founded in 1836. A handwritten letter found inside the box reads: "My dear Florine We had a very nice time at the party last evening. We had candy I eat [sic] two pieces and kept one for you. I danceded [sic] till I was tired. Now I am going out. Gabriel"
