Description
Porcelain pitcher molded with rococo scrolls around the mouth and spout, and around the transfer printed designs on either side. Gilding on edge of mouth worn in places. Gilding worn away on handle. Handle cast in rococo scroll shape. Two transfer printed scenes on either side, in brown. One image is of a church surrounded by trees, labeled, "Channing Memorial Church, Newport." The other scene is of rocks with a small woman labeled, "Forty Steps on Cliffs, Newport." The underside reads, "Made in Austria" over a parallelogram enclosing "Imported by TA Carpenter & Son Newport R.I."
