A black and white photograph depicting railroad tracks over the Cove (the Basin) in Newport Harbor. By 1893, this area was completely filled in (see atlases).Several industrial buildings are seen near the tracks, including a large depot building and a roundhouse. A large steamship is docked to the left; 18th-century houses of the Point (Marsh Street) are seen to the right. Goat Island, with new areas being filled in, is visible in the background. Rose Island Lighthouse can be faintly seen in the distance at right.
