Description
Oval shaped paisley shawl of vivid hues of reds, oranges, blues, purple, greens, etc., decorative trim made of squares of different colors each with an embroidered flower in the center, all squares have fringe at the bottom, tassel of multicolored silk threads at the neck. Cut in 1860 from its original rectangular shape to the curved outline it is now. Belonged to the artist John La Farge's mother, then given to his wife.
