Description
Early 19th century American flax wheel with turned spokes, splayed feet. (A) is a major body of the wheel, made up of the wheel and all its connecting pieces. (B) is the treadle. (C) is the piece that connects the treadle with the wheel. (D) is the bobbins, spindle, and the flyer piece which has broken off from the spinning wheel. (E) is the leg which would have been under the section containing the bobbins, spindle, flyer piece. (F) is one of two legs that belong under the wheel. Both e and f are no longer attached to the spinning wheel.
