Elaborate silver-plated speaking trumpet, engraved and embossed with fire-fighting motifs; projecting eagle heads hold cord rings; raised decorative border on edge of bell. Fire trumpet presented to Benjamin Bateman by the torrent steam fire company. Inscription on trumpet neck: "Presented To/Fireman Benj. Bateman/By The Members Of/Torrent Steam Fire Engine Co./No. 1/Jan 5th, 1870".
