Busk

Object number
01.327
Date
circa 1840
Description
Bone rectangle, engraved with three geometric figures: a star, spouting whale, new moon, and a tree. Entire edge is studded with brass. Notes from Stuart Frank's visit November 4, 2009:
Busk is possibly panbone or walrus ivory; pretty unusual; cut and polished brass wire dots; not 1815 but 1830-1840 or even later. Material and date changed per Frank's assessment.
