Description
Commemorative plate made of white ironstone, with blue underglaze inscription, "Votes for women". On verso: Maddock maker's mark. This plate was made for the conference of great women held at marble house, July 8 and 9, 1914. Hosted by Alva Vanderbilt Belmont (Mrs. O. H. P. Belmont). The campaign for women's rights began on the higher social levels, later trickled down to middle class.
