Description
Mahogany "Queen Anne" style side chair, (mid-Georgian). Shells on knees and crest rail; compass seat, ball-and-claw feet. Chair has its original red wool (moreen) upholstery which has a steam-pressed floral pattern. Marked "XXIIII" on the seat rail. Donor, Mrs. Stevens, descended from Peyton Hazard. Chair originally owned by Hazard Family of Newport, part of a set of at least 24 chairs.
