A daguerreotype (1/6 size) depicting an above-ground view of Newport, possibly taken from the Atlantic House Hotel. Plate is galvanized (silver electroplated) and does not have its original cover. At foreground, the Old Stone Mill and Touro Park are visible. Prominent buildings (from left to right) include Second Congregational Church, St. Paul's Methodist Church, the Colony House, and Second Baptist Church. The Newport Asylum is visible in the far distance. Daguerrotype is possibly one of the earliest photographic images taken in this area of Newport.
