Description
Black and white photograph of the excavation, construction, removal of a building located on Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island. In the background of the photograph, there are several storefronts including "J.D. Richardson and Co.," "J.P. Lancaster," and a newspaper and periodical shop. Also in the background of the photograph is the original Newport Treasury building that stood on Thames Street. The streets appear to be more or less unpaved and a horse for a carriage can be seen on the right side of the photograph.
