Description
Black and white photograph an exterior fountain and statue located at the Chetwode mansion that formerly stood on Bellevue Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. The home was originally built and designed in 1903 by Horace Trumbauer as a summer cottage for Mrs. WIlliam Storrs Wells. The photograph, captured in C. 1910, was taken during the time in which the Wells family inhabited the home. The statue in this photograph is of a little boy holding a bird. It is situated in a fountain in front of several briarwood hedges. The estate and gardens no longer stand in Newport as it was severely damaged in 1972 by a fire and demolished in 1973.
