Farm labor account book kept by Isaac Manchester of Tiverton, RI., ca. 1780-1820. The book includes various tasks and goods sold to paying clients. Pages 101 and 181 include family records. 139 pages, earliest entry is from 1780, latest entry dates to 1820.
The ledger mentions wood/lumber being purchased and mentions the building of walls. Also mentioned is fabric being bought and sold for coats and shirts and leather for shoes. A hatter and blacksmith are noted as well. He also mentions how he took possession of someone's house and farm.
Writing on the inside cover reads: "Isaac Manchester Jr. his book bought January 4th AD 1780, price seven pounds, sixteen shillings lawful money."
Isaac Manchester (1756-1820) was the son of Isaac and Abigail (Brown) Manchester of Tiverton, RI. He was married to Alice (Alce) Taber and had 14 children. He served in the Revolution (VRRI Tiverton 4:95; Manchester genealogy in NEHGR #65).
