Collection of cabinet cards and cartes-de-visite, the majority of which relate to the Sigourney family of Newport, many of whom perished during the tragic sinking of the SS Ville du Havre in 1873. The portraits include two identified portraits of Sigourney family members (Michael Conway and Amelie Lousie Sigourney II); the remainder are largely unidentified. The collection also includes two photographs of the Torpedo Station taken soon after its construction (circa 1871). Many of the photographs were captured by local photographer J. A. (Joshua Appleby) Williams.
