Description
Copy photograph of the U. S. Naval Academy schoolships Santee (left) and Constitution (right) moored near Goat Island, Newport, in 1863. Over the bow of the Santee, the Atlantic Hotel can be seen; the building was used by the Naval Academy during the Civil War. In the background, a portion of the privateer ship John Adams can be seen. The original photograph was presented to the USNAM by E. H. C. Leutze, Rear Admiral, USN.
