A sheriff's deed between William Davis, Sheriff of Newport, and Thomas Wickham, in which land originally belonging to Joseph Atwood, and his son Shiffield Atwood, was purchased at public auction for the sum of twenty-nine pounds fifteen shillings on April 15 1786. The document is witnessed by George Fiske and Henry Goodum, and signed by Peleg Barker, City Clerk and Warden.
