A printed document ordering military personnel to allow people to travel between Conanicut Island and Newport for the purposes of commerce. Document was produced during the occupation of Newport by British forces during the American Revolution (December 1776). Orders are written under the supervision of General Henry Clinton in English and German; the British Royal coat of arms is printed at top center.
