Description
White heavily starched bonnet. Made of sheer cotton. Hand stitched. 1 1/4 in. ruffle around face. Crown and brim both made of starched cotton. Brim 6 in. at widest point. Extremely large brim resembles poke bonnet from 1830s (See Metropolitan Museum of Art 2009.300.2689 for comparison). Tag identifying bonnet as "Large Quaker Bonnet made for (AWW +) Esther Morton Smith?" attached to blue tissue paper stuffed inside bonnet. "(AWW +)" crossed out. Blue tissue paper removed. Tag stored in archival bag with bonnet.
