Description
On September 10, 1813, after defeating the British fleet in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, Newporter Oliver Hazard Perry, the commander of the American fleet, wrote a now famous letter to William Henry Harrison. He wrote; “We have met the enemy, and they are ours...” That line is immortalized on this cane, manufactured from a piece of USS Lawrence, Perry's flagship for the battle.
