Order signed by Richard Nicolls and Robert Carr warning “all his majesties loving subjects whome this do or may concerne” to desist the harassment of Herman Garretts in Narragansett Country. Garretts, also known as Weequsnock, is referred to as a sachem of the Narragansett tribe. The Court ruled that he had permission from authorities in Boston to maintain his residence and have common justice and protection as his majesty’s subject. This document was a faithful copy dated August 13, 1738.
