DescriptionMinutes from a special meeting of the African Humane Society convened at the house of Jacob Gardner on February 16, 1808. At the meeting, the Society called upon Abraham Casey to explain his absence from the Society. Casey acknowledged his fault and asked for forgiveness, and the Society pardoned him. Casey also paid all fines against him. Thomas Cahoone appeared before the Society and was admitted. The Society also voted that all money due to them not yet paid shall be paid on or before the second Thursday of August. Present at the meeting: Cudjo Gibbs, Abraham Casey, Newport Gardner, Ceasar Wanton, Zingo Stevens, Quarm Bowers, Cuffee Benson, John Davice, Jacob Gardner, and Thomas Cahoone. Absent: Cuffee Mumford, Cudjo Hicks, Henry Clark, and Newport Eldred.
