This collection contains photographs, architectural plans, and other documents relating to the construction of the Claiborne Pell Bridge, commonly known as the Newport Bridge. The collection documents the planning and construction of the bridge between 1966 and 1969 by the Perini Corporation, the company contracted for the project.

This collection was originally compiled by Alfred Johnsen, who worked for the Perini Corporation at the time of the bridge construction.
