Scope and Content
This series contains correspondence regarding specifications for various items and furnishing rooms at the Breakers while under construction. This includes, but is not limited to: a letter between James Driscoll & Sons of Brookline and Ernest Bowditch regarding lowering the Cliff Walk at The Breakers, letters between Richard Morris Hunt and Cornelius Vanderbilt regarding contractors and decor, and letters and estimates from Jules Allard of Allard & Sons regarding furnishings and decorative painting for the Morning Room at The Breakers. This series also includes copies of a contract for property between Pierre Lorillard and Cornelius Vanderbilt, Sept 22, 1885.
