Description
Mahogany dining table in three parts. A is the rectangular shaped center part with two drop-leafs on the long sides. B and C are semicircular ends that attach to piece a on the long ends. All three pieces have four legs with vertical carved lines. The table has been extensively worked over, probably around the turn of the 20th century, to the extent where part of the top of each of the three pieces has been replaced with newer pieces of mahogany. Donor is a direct descendant of Charles and Mary Northam Cotton of Newport. The table is believed to have been in the Cotton House in the 19th century and descended through their grandson Robert Cotton Ebbs, who was the grandfather of the donor.
